Other Sources
Other Sources are identified under 'Qual. Source' within the Circulation Filter (Consensus, Product, Record Details). Typically 'Other Sources' are rental lists, business directories, associations, etc used for serving the publications to meet your distribution goals. Generally, there is a list agreement with 'other sources' that often ONLY allows its use for serving the publication(s) and not for marketing about any other products.
BEST PRACTICE: Check with your publisher about the terms of your 'Other Source' agreement.
To get around inadvertently marketing to these records identified as 'Other Sources', you will need to suppress them within your query.
Example 1: Identify your 'Other Source' files in comparison with your entire database Audience.
- Under the Circulation Filter Qual. Source, select 'Other Sources' and click ADD FILTER.
- Select ALL your products (Newsletters, Events, Webinars, Whitepapers, etc) EXCEPT the Magazine Publications and click ADD FILTER.
- 1 NOT IN 2 = subscribers that are sourced ONLY to OTHER SOURCE, meaning that you may not have the permissions to send them information about anything except the MAGAZINES (rented for magazine distribution only).
- ALL INTERSECT = you may be able to still market to these people since they have engaged on their own with your other products within your database. You can download the list and analyze the pubcodes (products) to see which products. Do this at your discretion.
Example 2: Suppress your 'Other Source' file against any product(s).
- Select any product(s) that is not a magazine publication and click ADD FILTER.
- Under the Standard Filter Qual. Source, select 'Other Sources' and click ADD FILTER.
- 1 NOT IN 2 = subscribers that are part of the selected products you chose, but are NOT on your 'Other Sources' list. You can market to these subscribers.
NOTE: If this is a common search criteria that should be included in your query, save the settings as a Saved Filter.
